After her „Abitur“ Maren Hagemann-Loll first studied for a degree in church music. Then, as a sideline to her job as a church musician, she took another degree, this time in ancient music. Her main subjects in that course were harpsichord and basso continuo, with viola da gamba and singing as subsidiary subjects. She gained experience as a conductor in many international master courses. In 2001 she completed a course in popular music. In 2002 she was chosen to take part in a masterclass in Canada, run by the prominent North American conductor Nicole Paiement. Since 2003 she has concentrated on developing her solo singing abilities in collaboration with/with the help of Karin Kunde. Since 1988 her main job has been that of church musician of „Alt-Barmbek“. Since 1999 she has been working additionally for the „Staatliche Jugendmusikschule Hamburg“ as a choir leader and coach (see here).
In concerts she has cooperated with some of the best-known German composers of songs for children (e.g. Rolf Zuckowski, Gerhard Schöne, Robert Metcalf). Since 2007 she has also coached nursery school teachers in musical education.
